The man, second from the right, seems to be saluting with his left hand. I wondered if the image had been mistakenly printed in reverse.
I appreciate Ray's observation and Servatius's explanation. The term realistic is so apt when I saw the reverse. Unbelievable how much better this photograph is in reverse.

Although the image is actually as shown initially, I've flipped the image so that it's more realistic.
